The largest Hindu temple in the world

The Akshardham in Delhi, India is the largest Hindu temple in the world. It is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan was one of the most popular Hindu prophets. This temple represents the cultural beauty at its best. It is located on the outskirts of Delhi, on the banks of the river Yamuna. The architecture of the temple, says much of the indigenous culture of 10,000 years ago. The temple was built over a period of 5 years and engaged the services of 11,000 artisans. Akshardham was inaugurated in November 2005 and has since received thousands of visitors daily. No other Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar, the Gujarat state capital. Akshardham means eternal or lasting forever. There are many things to do in Akshardham. First you can visit the main temple premises has a very BIOG idol of Lord Swaminarayan.

The entire temple is built without using a single piece of steel. The main temple in a total of 234 carved pillars and 20,000 small murtis (idols). It also has a spectacular path called the Trail Gajndra and 9 ornate domes. After visiting the main temple you can see the audio animatronics show, which lasts 3 hours. The show consists of different stages in the life of Lord Swaminarayan and how he left his luxurious life of being a prince to understand the suffering of people outside his realm. Ultimately attained enlightenment after their religious teachings to spread the word of humanity. The show moves from one diorama to another and see the different events happening in the life of the Lord.

If you still are not tired, then you should definitely experience the boat ride. The journey takes about 12 minutes and makes you experience the heritage of 10,000 years of age and indigenous culture. It is a journey through ancient inventions and discoveries made by Indians in popularity. Through the musical fountain at night you can see the fascinating mix of natural elements like fire, water, air and land. You can lounge or take walk in the garden of the premises which is also called the Garden of India. This is one of the largest gardens in India with lush green gardens and has wonderful bronze statues of Hindu gods in different places.

One important thing to note is that due to security reasons, wallets, purses, bags and mobile phones are not allowed in the temple premises. You can put in your car or hand it in the safe at the door. This temple is one not to lose sight in New Delhi. It symbolizes the architectural splendor and extends over 100 acres. Sandstone and marble are the main materials used to build the temple. Do not forget to visit the IMAX theater that shows documentaries and films of Lord Swaminarayan. You can eat your lunch in the restaurant inside the temple compound.
